Christ certainly sweat lots of perspiration and blood during the atonement. He even lost some more when he was nailed to the Cross. When the guards pierced his left side, the rest of his blood poured out, and then came water. Christ died of loss of blood and shortage of breath.

Through the Atonement we can become clean from our wrong doings, sins. We can repent and literally have them washed away as if they never happened. But this gift is not free. If we are willing to do what he has asked (have faith in him, repent of our sins, be baptized in his name, receive the Holy Ghost, and persevere to the end) we can receive the greatest of all the gifts of God, Eternal Life -- To live with Him again.
