Because Jesus Christ ( God the Son ) always did those things that pleased His Father ( God the Father ) ... Jesus Christ was the example to every believing Israelite, as to their conduct and understanding toward God the Father ... simple .
In addition to this, prayer is not simply 'talking to God'. Prayer involves listening to God, and simply being one with him. A good example of this is the meditative prayer and worship as experienced in a Taize service. Christians believe that Jesus is God in human form, and so, as a human, he needed to pray. However, in all his prayers he never prayed to 'God' but to his 'Father'. We accept this these days as second nature (eg when we pray the Lord's Prayer... 'Our Father...') but to the Jew in those days. calling God 'Father' was so totally new. And more to the point, Jesus called his Father God 'ABBA' which, roughly translated means 'Daddy'. this places the relationship between Jesus and his Father God on a very intimate basis so that God, once an aloof deity in the Jewish culture, becomes as close as one's own Father. Jesus called himself 'God the Son' or simply 'The Son' so it is absolutely necessary that Father and Son should converse and communicate - and this two-way communication is called prayer.
Answer
May I add to John's answer. Jesus Christ is in reality a God in His own right. You may have heard it said in churches God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. This is said because those churches believe in the Trinity i.e. Three God's in one person. In reality they are three separate personages all of whom are God's. The God Jesus prayed to his father because God the Father is the highest of all the God's, or the father of all the God's.
Respectfully submitted.
Jesus was God in form of man....he already knew how to pray....
God.
Jesus taught us to pray...our Father who art in heaven... If Jesus prayed to the Father then it should be ok for you too.
God his father.
It's jesus
God, Jesus, Mary (Jesus' mother) and the 12 disciples (but we pray to God and Jesus).
No, Catholics do not pray to statues. Catholics pray to God, Jesus, and ask Saints to pray for them.
It is a connection to God. Christians worship God, cry out to God, pray out loud to God, and they pray in Jesus name.
If Jesus is god and equal to the god of the Hebrews, then he will not pray to himself. His family being Jewish may probably pray in the Mosque or a small altar inside their house.
Yes. It is OK to pray to Jesus Christ. And when you pray to his father God, you are praying to him, because he said: "I and the Father are one."
Jesus is GOD so when you pray, pray through Christ Jesus so that your prayers may be heard. no other way but the Jesus. repent from your sins, accept him as your lord and saviour then, you are saved Answer Jesus is a God in his own right. When we pray we pray to the Father through Jesus Christ who is our medieator between us and God the Father. With the kindest respect to the first to answer, we are saved after all we can do in righteousness. We are not saved by God's grace but by our own effort here on earth. A sinner cannot be saved by grace alone. He must repent and sin no more. Niether will a death bed confession save us for we will have no time to do good works and prove our worth.
The one and only god, Jesus.
