Bad bearing in compressor? Bad bearing in compressor?
The A/C compresor is low on the front of the engine, up inside the engine compartment. I have never heard of a serpentine blt "bending" a pulley... When an idler pulley bearing fails and siezes, it will break a belt. This is most likely the cause of belt failure. If the A/C compressor drive is not turning by hand, this is most likely the cause. There is a bearing on the nose of the compressor that allows the hub to rotate and "drive" the compressor when the clutch is activated. The A/C clutch is replaceable without replacing the entire compressor assembly. Check all the pulleys and make sure another one is not also failed.
The clutch bearing for an AC compressor is located in the center of the clutch. If the bearing goes bad, then the clutch is replaced as a whole part rather than changing the bearing.
Loose or worn serpentine belt, low power steering fluid, bearing failure in one of your accessories ( alternator, power steering pump, air conditioner compressor) bearing failure on idler pulley
You cannot change the compressor bearing, however, you can change the clutch bearing. Which one is bad? Is there a noise when the clutch is engaged, or not engaged?
Bad bearing in compressor?
Engine? bad serpentine belt? bad bearing in a belt driven accessory i.e. alternator, a/c compressor. idler pulley? belt tensioner? etc. Drive train? front pads need replacement? bad wheel bearing? cv joint?
Could be a loose belt, bad bearing in the compressor, malfunctioning clutch, lack of compressor oil... any of those things.
Worn serpentine belt? Bad bearing in belt driven accessory; alternator, idler pulley, a/c compressor etc.
The bearing lets the belt pully free wheel on the compressor input shaft that the clutch is attached to.
