the fact that it is an E40D, means that it is electronically controlled. The shift internal to the transmission needs computer input to function, and change the gears, so there is no way.
Sorry man. The above answer is in fact somewhat wrong. In essence the statement is correct, but.......... There is a company that makes a computer that is only for the transmission. It is fully tunable by a PC or laptop. If you want some information here is a link to that particular product for Fords... (It is a little pricey, but worth it for that great transmission)

Here are a couple of others too, but way more expensive and I really don't see a lot of benefit over the Becontrols one.

A literate is a person who knows how to read. So, yes if you are literate you can understand the information and use the computer without much problem. In fact computer is more about logic than education.
Go into your kitchen get some garlic and selotape it to your computer monitor. Done! hahhahaah lol great answer well is there anyone who knows the answer
The check engine light comes on to tell you that something is wrong and the computer knows what it is. Use an automotive code scanner to find out what's wrong. Fortunately you and the computer agree... something is wrong. It's just that the computer knows a lot more about what's likely to be the problem.
