Most college tend to be more forgiving with student who have high GPAs and subpar SAT scores than the other way around. However, if you were to in fact get a perfect score that makes you stand out in a HUGE way. But no matter what, you'll have to explain why you have such a low GPA. My suggestion would be to send out apps to school that rank SAt scores as very important to their decision and make sure your essays and teacher recommendations are outstanding. But if you don't get in anywhere, go to community college, work hard-much harder than whatever you did to get that 1.5, and transfer.

Top colleges prefer new students to hold a unweighted GPA over 3.7 and a SAT score above 1900. It is possible to attend a top college with a 3.95 unweighted GPA and a low SAT score of 1500 with letter of recommendations, and lots of community/volunteer experience.
Nope. Although a perfect score combined with an exceptional GPA, extracurriculars, application.....etc. should guarantee a spot.
