Start by finding #1 TDC.
Pull the #1 plug and hold your finger over the hole while bumping the engine. When you feel compression coming out of the hole you are approaching TDC.
Bring the balancer around to line up TDC and pull the cap off. The tower that most closely lines up with the rotor is #1.
Going clockwise, the next tower is for #8, then 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2.
If you do this correctly the engine should start.
By the way...You did not clean the points on an '88. Haven't been used since '74.
Firing as in starting and running, no.
What is firing order and running mate of mitsubishi 10DC11?
If you didn't replace one spark plug wire at a time you may have mixed up the firing order.
what do u mean not running right? is it miss firing, etc?
If it ran good before, it's got to be minor.
the firing order hasent changed for ford since 1985 13726548
You cannot change/reset the firing order. The firing order is determined by the crankshaft, and cannot be changed at all.
what is the firing order for 1997 dodge ram v8
It means that a 4 piston engine is smoothly running because it's 'firing on all fours'
The plug is firing after Top Dead Centre of the piston travel. Move the spark timing to before Top Dead Centre
Check firing order Two of the plug wires are crossed.
If it was starting before and you were only doing tune-up work, you've probably installed the new wires in the wrong firing order. On the other hand, if it wasn't running before and it's still not running then whatever wasn't working before still isn't working...
