Is drug testing routine in urine analysis for a physical exam?

No. Routine urinalysis only tests for the specific gravity (sort of like the density of urine), and the presence or absence of protein, sugar, and blood. Drug testing is an entirely different process.

∙ 11y agoI would think only if someone orders it and pays for it. Why not call a Dr's office and ask them what all is tested in a general phyical urine sample? Ask if it includes Diabetis, thyroid etc. Find out if testing for other things like Choresterol or chemicals from exposure at work cost extra. They test for standard things. Extra things only if someone orders it and pays for it.

∙ 14y agoIt depends on what kind of routine physical. If you are having just a yearly wellness exam to ensure you're in good health, then no it is not. It would only be done on physicals required to get hired or remain employed by a company and for certain sports. Drug testing is a very specific kind of test not incorporated on a routine urinalysis.
