Cool air naturally falls to lower points from a higher point. Therefore, It is very sensable to figure the top floor your best vantage point for your one small unit. Be sure to give the cold air a good pathway to fall down the staircase or whatever to lower floors. Nothing is gonna do you much good if you put it somewhere then close the door.
