If you were drug tested could you tell between codeine and hydrocodone?

codeine is a derivative of opiates. rather ur being tested specifically for codeine or opiates (most likely both??). as far as i know they just check for opiates, not specifically codeine. however within 3 days of being clean u should be fine

∙ 15y agoVicodin and codeine both contain opiates. When you have a urine drug test they mainly test for general substances. So if they do test for opiates then you will test positive if you have taken Vicodin in the past 3 to 5 days. If you have a prescription for Vicodin it would be a good idea to tell whoever is testing you and show them your prescription. If not they could possibly think you have actually been using heroin since it too will show positive for opiates.

∙ 12y agoYes, in theory. vicodine, hydromorphone and so on are synthetics of morphine. if you take any of these on a regular basis and depending on what panel urine test they give, you will not show positive for codeine, because your body has had time to metabolize the meds and break them down, but if you or new to these meds and can prove it, i don't mean 2-3 days new it has to be subjected to the body and tested within a short amount of time or if given in an iv for pain and they test you, your body has not had time to metabolize and break down each individiual medication, therefore could show positive for codeine. even if no codeine was administered. hope this helps. some will argue, but in my profession ive seen it many times. its a gray area, and no lab testing facility wants to admit that they find certain medications, but do not have a clue how they may have tested positive. in their defense, i will say that if someone comes up + for THC, and say "oh it was secondhand smoke at a party" well that's a given.

No you cant, your referring to a drink made with grape codeine and promethazyne cough syrup. Hydrocodone is much more potent and should not be consumed in the quantity that rappers claim to use of the codeine syrup. There could be serious repercussions, including death due to respiratory failure.

On a standard pre-employment type drug screen, Tylenol No3 (codeine), hydrocodone, and oxycodone will likely be detected as a single positive result for narcotics or opioids. A more specialized (and expensive) test could be used to distinguish between the three.

yes it does it is a opiate and it will be tested for...1 thing a ten panel will not test for is oxycodone you could use oc and not test positive for opiates as long as u don't use an extreme amount daily.
