Yes, anything over 120/80 is high. If it is a one-time reading it could be caused by something unusual for you, but if this is what you're getting every day it is not good and should be assessed by your primary care provider as soon as possible.
The number is high enough to need medication, but don't get worked up about it yet. If you got it taken at a doctors office, that may not mean much. My blood pressure always spikes in an office from anxiety. I go from 150/100 average to 118/78 average every other time I test it at home. You might just be like me and are uneasy at the doctors office. Do yourself a favor and get a little tester for home, your old enough now that you can't just ignore something like this.
Normal blood pressure is around 120/70 but the numbers can be slightly higher or lower and still be within normal limits. The first number is the diastolic pressure; the second number is the systolic number. Each reflects a different part of the heart's action and the literal "pressure" exerted against blood vessel walls when blood moves through and returns to the heart. A 157/90 pressure should be re-evaluated at different times and on different days. If it stays elevated you may need medication. However, the first line of "treatment" and best defense against high blood pressure is daily exercise and a good well-balanced diet. Consult your doctor for a personalized plan.
NOTE: All persons should consult their physicians for proper diagnosis and medical advice. Never rely solely on information via the internet or from non-physicians.
YES ! Take it again after uncrossing legs, and arms and make sure you are using it against your skin and not over a sleeve.
If it doesn't go down significantly (less than 140/90), then you may need to go to the ER
not really... 135 is borderline... a dr probably would not medicate for that

What is the Normal blood pressure rate for 82 year old man? Answer: 170/110
People who are athletic may have a lower pulse (exercise strengthens the heart, and ther heart becomes more efficient at pumping blood). 117/56: this blood pressure is normal. A pulse of 50 may be normal, but you have to look at the bigger picture: * is the person symptomatic (such as dizzy, nauseated, sweaty) * is the pulse regular or irregular * is the person on any medications that would cause a lower heart rate
