Ativan is a wonder drug for panic, anxiety and sleep. It comes in 1and 2 mg pills, and is very effective.The only problem is that most doctors do not like to prescribe it long term because they think that it is addictive or hard to stop.I have been on and off Ativan for 2 years and it is quite easy to stop.The doctor only gives me 1 month supply at a time though, its very frustrating!

∙ 12y agothe comparison in habit formation with benzo's is catagorised by: long acting, and short acting benzo's. xanax and lorazepam are both relatively short acting benzos. this means that like all benzos they are pretty much as 'habit forming' as each other, but if you were to take them for a long period of time the withdrawal will be more abrupt (due to the short half life) than long acting benzo's such as Valium or librium.
but the shorter half life also means it may take longer for you to become dependent on them... either way try not to take either continuosly other long periods of time... if your are already dependent... the sooner you ween yourself off the better... but do so slowly.. hope this helps
