Colombia is a country that is located in northwest South America. It has a population of 47 million people and the capital is Bogota.
Colombia is absolutely amazing. It is a country in South Americafull of culture. The people here are warm and energetic. Whenforeigners come, they tend to love it because of the welcomingpeople and all that there is to do. We not only have Atlantic ANDPacific Ocean, but we have the Amazon Rainforest…, three bigmountain ranges, cold weather, hot weather...everything. If you come to Colombia, you know you will have fun. People have animmense party spirit here and are always ready to have fun. Bogotais the capital of Colombia, and it has so much to do (concerningcultural things). But Cali is the third biggest city and it isknown as the party city. Also, Colombians think in very"community"geared ways. They will help anyone they can, even if itis not asked of them. Imagine going up to someone and asking wheresome specific store is, before you know it, someone else isanswering your question as they pass by. Apart from the wonderful things, yes there is poverty. A LOT. Weare a developing country though. An immense part of the populationis very poor and you will see a lot of it if you come, so be aware. But it serves as an excellent learning experience. it really doeschange your perspective when you see it face to face. It is aninspiration to change things. In terms of danger, it is....if you go and hike up the mountains inColombia. Otherwise, you just have to know where to go and wherenot to go...find the good areas, and guaranteed you will be fine. All in all, Colombia has absolutely insane amounts of spirit, fun, culture, and tradition. (MORE)

Colombia is not dangerous. It is a general missconception fed by the media due to an internal conflict. But in general is not more dangerous than any other place in the planet. Because it is a developing country with some degree of poverty, street gangs, armed conflict between guerilla groups, paramil…itaries and the government and organised crime. However only a small minority of Colombians are involved in thesethings, the majority of Colombians are hard working, familyoriented, caring and friendly people. Colombians also have a greatsense of hospitality to their guests and often treat visitors verywell. You need to take some precautions when you are visitingColombia and be alert to your surroundings, but as long as youdon't hang around bad areas or go looking for trouble then youshould be fine.
