Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) don't use the term 'gatekeeper'. Mormons believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, just like Moses, Abraham, or Isaiah. They believe that as the first prophet of this modern dispensation, Joseph holds the symbolic priesthood "keys" for those living in these modern times, and that these "keys" will be returned to Jesus Christ at His Second Coming.

The Book of Mormon explains that Jesus Christ is the only 'gate keeper':

"The keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel; and he employeth no servant there; and there is none other way save it be by the gate; for he cannot be deceived, for the Lord God is his name." (2 Nephi 9:41)
