Wolf Creek Dam ranks 22nd in largest U.S. dams. The town of Burnside was moved to higher ground before filling the lake. In the winter when the lake is lowered, you can see foundations & roads from where the old city was located. The lake level was lowered recently for fear of Wolf Creek Dam failing and flooding towns down stream. At present, it has been determined that repairs cannot be made to the existing dam, and plans of building a new dam have been discussed.
