No, Bearshare is much like Limewire. The program itself is not illegal. It is what people do with it that is. If you are downloading copyrighted / licensed music, but are not legally obtaining the license to use it yourself, it is illegal. The same goes for uploading. If you are uploading music or video that you do not own rights to, it is also illegal.

Limewire is a peer to peer network or p2p for short. There are hundreds of others out there like limewire. If you google for awhile you will find lots of others. One or two that spring to mind are emule, phex and frostwire.

Downloading media from LimeWire for free is the same thing as robbing a store's CD's.

No it is not illegal, because you already paid for the song. But if you have uploaded it to Limewire and other people can then download it then yes it is illegal. I would suggest finding the song on your hard drive and using a file conveter and convert to MP3 and put that on your MP3, leaving iTunes AAC version in the folder that it was in.

(I didn't write tht last answer but i don't know myself, but i'd like to point out, in response to that last answer, just becasue it says it is legal on the website does not mean it is legal. limewire says the same thing and limewire has viruses and is illegal.)
