'Peter and The Starcatchers' is not an official prequel to any of the original Peter Pan books.

It is however an unofficial prequel, from the imaginings of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Followed by 3 more books... 'Peter & The Shadow Thieves' , 'Peter & The Secret of Rundoon',and 'Peter and the Sword of Mercy.'

The official book to first feature the character Peter Pan, is 'Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens' (tells the story of the baby Peter Pan, taken away by the Fairies)

Other prequel books you may be interested in:

'Capt. Hook: The Adventures of A Notorious Youth' by J.V. Hart (tells a possible story and beginning of a Young Captain Hook)

Peter and the starcatchers is a prequil to Peter Pan. what does that mean?

It's "prequel". It's a recently made-up word that combines "pre" (before) with "sequel" (another story). So it's another story that takes place before the first one. The idea is that it explains how Peter came to Neverland, how he can fly, where Captain Hook came from, etc.

Will there be a Peter Pan III?

It's doubtful that Disney will make another sequel to follow "Return to Never Land" (it didn't make a huge amount of money), but never say "never".But there are a some Peter Pan novels (one sequel, and a series of prequels) that are supposedly in pre-production to be made into movies. The sequel is called "Peter Pan in Scarlet", and it was authorized by the hospital that used to own the rights to Peter Pan. The first prequel is called "Peter and the Starcatchers", and was written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. There are quite a few other seqels out there (http://peterphile.info/pan/Peter_Pan_books), but those are the ones that might make it to the big screen.
