His books were well written, had deeply involved plots, well described characters, and appealed to a multitude of people outside of the "teen romance" scene. The stories were original and captivating. Even after his death, he has a few more books scheduled to be released. They are all highly anticipated and expected to be best-sellers. Stephanie Meyers books appeal wildly within a limited genre, but fail to capture the attention of more matured readers that are not as interested in the romance factor.
