not really. i am currently on accutane and have noticed the following side effects
1)extremely chapped lips- you will get this 100% guaranteed
2)joint pain- its only bad when i workout and mainly my lower back
3)depression-yes, it has made me more reclusive. no thoughts of suicide or anything but just a little less social.
is it worth it? yes, without a doubt. first month it might get worse but then it gets better.
my suggestions: keep chapstick (i found burts beez wax to be the best) with you at all times. and also lotion close by. you will be applying chapstick every few hours and lotion at least once a day.
ANSWER
I'd mainly agree with that. My first month and a half was a living hell though- not to try and scare you or anything. I am going into my 3rd month and my acne is still pretty severe and I am definitely more reclusive (but no suicidal thoughts). There are some big risks, but those side effects are less common. You should still get tested regularly to make sure you are still healthy and use a lot of vasaline and moisterizer!
accutane does work. i am going on my fourth month and feeling a lot more confident. when i started on accutane i didnt notice a visual difference til about month 2 and a half. after that i could feel everything disappearing and my skin feels smooth... stick with it
Isotretinoin (Accutane) is used for the treatment of Acne. It reduces the amount of oil released in the skin. It is also used for some skin, brain and pancreatic cancers among others. You should not try and purchase Accutane other from a reputable source such as a Chemist or pharmacy. It will be by prescription only.
It was taken of the market in the US in 2009 after many damages claims in the courts by former users. It is now only available under a special program called iPLEDGE.
You should tell the Doctor about any of the following:
An inherited family or personal problem with depression.
High cholesterol levels and Heart conditions.Diabetes, Asthma or Liver disease.
Bone problems such as Osteoporosis.
Inflammatory Bowel disorders, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's disease.
Anorexia Nervosa or other eating disorders.
Accutane is extremely harmful to the pregnant mother and must not be taken. It can cause major birth defects and be life-threatening to the fetus. You must not take Accutane whilst attempting to become pregnant and for at least a month after.
yes.... how bad do you need it? ......is it worth the rare but still possible risks!
You cannot take isotretinoin, accutane, and rowatinex at the same time because of their combined effect.
Yeah, you can, there's certain anti-biotics you can't take with any brand of accutane, but amoxicillin is an exception.
NO! It is extremley dangerous to take any medication with accutane (that isn't explicitly directed for use by a doctor), you would be risking extreme liver toxicity.
Well, the accutane could be causing the depression. I know that doesn't answer the question, but i just wanted you to know that there's a lot of stuff you can find on the internet about this. you may want to consider going off accutane.
Accutane is a drug you do not want to mess around with while on. It is EXTREMELY taxing on your liver. Neither klonopin nor Viagra appear on the list of dangerous drug interactions with Accutane. However it is IMPERATIVE that you consult your doctor about possible problems with the combination.
Yes, Accutane can cause back pain. Back pain (and joint pain) are a common side effect of taking Accutane.
good question. i took accutane in high school and now as a 28 year old I've been diagnosed with IBS.
Yes, there is no problem in taking azithromycin (Zithromax) while on Accutane.
I take both but my dermatologist said it would be best to take one at night and the other in the morning
No, I am a 16 year old boy and I was on Accutane for about 6 months.
There are anecdotal reports of weight loss while taking accutane for acne. You should read carefully the information that is available on the Internet regarding diet while on accutane. Generallly speaking, you need to avoid foods that will increase the intake of the retenoid form of Vitamin A -- liver and dairy (milk and cheese) while on accutane. Otherwise, you are likely to increase the undesired side effects. Take a careful look at what is in the "hoodia" supplement you are taking. Consult your physician or pharmacist if you have any further questions.
I find it unbelievable that your doctor prescribed it to you and knows you are pregnant. If the prescription is not for you you should not take it even if you are not pregannt. When pregnant you only take what the doctor say is safe. What it says at Drugs.com;Accutane can cause severe, life-threatening birth defects if the mother takes the medication during pregnancy. Even one dose of Accutane can cause major birth defects of the baby's ears, eyes, face, skull, heart, and brain. Never use Accutane if you are pregnant.
