Uninstall it .....deleting will just make the icon dis appear .. which is a wastage of memory

First off, you have to Uninstall that program (Go to Control Panel, Programs, Uninstall a program, Find the Application it happens on, then click "Uninstall"). Then remove the program from your desktop & the files to it.
If you can't find the uninstall button, then go Start->Accessories->Command Prompt and then type RMDIR pathofprogram. An example might be like this: RMDIR C:\Program Files\Cant Uninstall Me
You will probably have to delete them from the Firefox folder in the Program Files.
