Actually, many books are double listed as both science fiction and fantasy. Generally, if there is a dragon, wizard, elf, sorcerer, or dwarf, then it is clearly fantasy. On the other hand, if it involves spaceships, other planets or moons, or alien life forms then it is science fiction. Sometimes it… is a bit difficult to sort those two categories out clearly. (MORE)
Science fiction is a specific genre. In general, it involves taking some scientific idea and either 'predicting' where things will go in the future, or changing some aspect of science. Finding a way of exceeding the speed of light is such an idea. These are plausible ideas. Many early SF stories hav…e had aspects come true, such as nuclear power, trips to the moon, and even organ transplants. Another SF plot line is to make a change to society's norms. This is often the results of a catastrophe that leaves society in a strange situation, such is badly mutated, or a population approaching zero. (MORE)
It has a time-travel motif and with odd plot twists- and a lengthy beard- seems to be the sort of thing, like Father Time, that has a timeless quality. there are different versions- a nice toned down one was on the Flintstones- Fred passes out after a construction accident and falls asleep under a m…agic tree- in the Flintstones variant- the sequence of events is milder than in Irvings, after a long interval, Wilma remarries- ( in Rip Van Winkle, his wife dies) Rip slept through the revolution- no war was involved in the Flintstone tale. I kind of liked the Flintstone variant better than the original! (MORE)

Twilight ZONE certainly is. I am referring to the Rod Serling (Not Sterling!) television program. it is conceivable the author may have derived his name from a popular drug store at Journal Square the Silver Rod, he inverted it To Rod Sterling- a type of Silver and then it was modified to Serling- t…o avoid confusion with the .925 grade silver. People used to popularly call him Rod Sterling, and it is easy to see how the Drug store legend arose. Silver Rod- backwards- also implies he may have used- Drugs. (MORE)

It has gotten people used to the idea that there will be a future, of some sort, and that it will be different. Throughout most of humanity's existence, you died in more or less the same world you were born in. It has popularized science, to some extent. I can remember being laughed at in school …for saying that we would go to the Moon some day, and that there might be aliens living somewhere in space. Now everyone but the extreme far left lunatic fringe knows we have gone to the Moon, and people are making a living pretending to alien encounters (Roswell or the Hill case for example) that obviously never actually happened. There are even people who believe that V was a documentary and the world is actually run by lizard people from outer space. On no evidence at all of course-- so far there is no actual proof of alien life anywhere in the Universe. I guess what I am trying to say, is that the Media, in popularizing the notion of "The Future", is going a little wild, so this awareness is not exactly 100% a good thing. (MORE)

Yes, the Bible IS believed to be fiction by most people inthe world. Jesus reveals that the Bible is the TRUTH [ John 17:17 ]...but Truth is still the Truth whether anyone believes it or not. He also reveals in Revelation 12:9, to John, that: "This great Dragon - the ancient Serpent called the …Devil, orSatan, THE ONE DECEIVING THE WHOLE WORLD - was thrown downto the earth with all his angels." It's Satan [ the invisible god of this world ] and hisearth-bound, imprisoned demons [Jude 1:6 & II Peter 2:4] who" deceives the world "... who " LIES to the world "...who " created the LIE " [John 8:44]: it's he who has the wholeworld doubting... " believing "... that the Bible is fiction. Believing the Truth to be fiction [ or a lie ] doesn't negatethe reality that Truth is still the Truth. The Truth is merely" missing from the hearts and minds of those who doubt ." The Bible isn't written for people who DON'T believe what it says. It's written for those who DO: "So I am writing to you not because you DON'T KNOW THE TRUTH butbecause YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRUTH and FALSEHOOD. Andwho is the Great LIAR [ see John 8:44 again ]? The one whosays that Jesus is not the Christ. Such people are ANTICHRISTS, forthey have denied the FATHER and the SON."
