When it comes to meat, it depends on how the animal was slaughtered. So if the marmot was slaughtered according to Islamic dietary law (Zabihah) then it would be considered Halal or a permitted food.

Hoki fish newzealand is a skin fish or scale fish?

There are many shia and kosher sites which say that hoki has no scales and is therefore haram, however hoki go through a cycle where they are born with scales and eventually lose their scales at a certain age. Judging from this cycle I am unsure as to whether or no hoki is haram or not. My predictions on this is that if they are caught while their scales have not shed then they must be halal as narrated by Imam Ali a.s. If they are caught with no scales then they must be haram. : Yes i agree with you that the hoki fish does have scales and loses them at a certain age however it would be very difficult to tell as to whether or not they have been caught with their scales still intact. As most hoki is filleted and crumbed, knowing whether or not the fish had scales or not is almost impossible to tell so not knowing is a form of shak (doubt) which makes the fish haram and therefore unable to be eaten. Unless the whole hoki fish is seen with its scales intact it is halal and may be consumed due to the fact that it is a fish with scales and has been permissed to be eaten by Imam Ali a.s. If however you see it with no scales it is haram. Similarly, it is haram if you are unaware as to whether or not it has had its scales before being filleted as it is a form of shak.
