No, the warthog Pumbaa and meerkat Timon are also his friends. Although not before he ran away to exile after his father's death and those two saved his life. At home in his pride Nala was his only friend, in canon. As the movie does not show any other cubs from the pride if there were any others. However in the Disney approved comics and books there were other cubs in the pride, but those are not the film makers' visions but just outsider written and approved by Disney's book division.

In the Disney movie The Lion King, Simba falls in love with Nala. She was his childhood friend. Several people told them when they were young that it was tradition for them to get married, but neither of them liked this idea very much. Until they grew up, that is. :)
