Odor is neither matter nor non matter. Odor is a sensation - a physiological response to a chemical stimulus (chemicals being matter), in which volatile chemicals bind to scent receptors inside the nose, leading to the stimulation of specific neurons leading to the brain, giving rise to the sensation of "odor".

yes smell is a state of matter. As we know that smell is in gaseous form; normal gases also contain small molecules.These molecules are so very small beyond our imagination!!! .Thus, SMELL being a part of gases "IS A STATE OF MATTER"

A smell is indeed matter, it is small invisible chemicals dissolved in the air that your nose is able to detect when these molecules land on them as you breath (sniff) the air.
