Perhaps the most concrete discrepancy between the Biblical and scientific accounts

of creation is the contrast in time scales. The Biblical record places the Creation

roughly 5,000 - 6,000 years ago, whereas scientific investigation places it closer to

15 billion years ago.

Other than that ... regardless of what Dick Harfield will come along and tell you ...

there's really very little to grab onto and compare, and nothing at all in either

account that's solid enough to 'disprove' the other one.

I have even seen published work by a real, straight, knowledgeable, respected,

competent Physicist, who also happens to be capable of reading The Bible in some

depth, showing parallels between phrases in the Genesis account and some of the

most recent work in cosmology, physics, and relativity, that are absolutely chilling.

My own view goes something like this: The Bible tells us that Gcd did it. Modern

physics and cosmology describe how it proceeded, what it looked like, and the

laws of nature that were created as a part of it that have kept the whole thing

running all this time.

Call me a blockhead, but I just don't see the conflict.

What do christian scientist believe?

Christian scientists tend to believe in the theory of creation. However, this is not always the case. Creation is the theory which suggests God created the world, however there are different opinions to whether he created the world in 7 days or 7 years or 7000 years. But to answer your question, generally they believe in creation. (see Geneseis - first book in The Bible - for more detail)

Is there a difference between the Baptist Genesis creation story and the Methodist Genesis creation story?

No. Both use the same Bible. Any differences would come from individual interpretations of the Bible but not from a different denominational position. Both in theory believe the Bible to be true, but this is not always followed in practice, especially by individual Bible preachers or teachers.

Are genesis and the big bang theory the same?

No. Genesis is a book of the Bible, and is based on faith. The Big Bang Theory is a scientific theory based on astrophysic and cosmological calculations. That said, there are many who see some overlap to the creation and sequence of events the bible lays out in Genesis, and the BB theory.

Why did ideas of Charles Darwin cause controversy?

What is the Islamic theory of creation?

The Koran is not a narrative, as is the Bible, and so does not set out a creation narrative. There are frequent references throughout the Koran to Adam and Eve, and to the biblical act of creation. The Islamic religious view of creation is essentially the same as the Judeo-Christian one.

What happened during the creation of theory?

Firstly the story of creation is just that a STORY not a theory. The story of creation is told in the first book of the bible called Genesis. It was a way to explain the existence of the earth, its features and its inhabitants in ancient times when man didn't know any better. Now man has much greater knowledge of such things and we have the Big Bang Theory.

What is the name of the first story in the Bible?

Is the description of rainbow in the bible is scientifically correct?

There is no description of rainbow in the Bible. It's only referred to, as "the bow".

Why does the Bible not talk about dinosaurs coming before man?

I think it is because the Bible starts with the creation of man and doesn't discuss the details between the creation of earth and the creation of man. The Bible indicates that god created all of it in seven days and most people assume that to mean one week our time. But, it also says in the bible that a day to God is much different than a day to mankind. I don't remember the exact quote but it does say that in the Bible.

What oppositions did Darwin's theory have?

It has been argued from the earliest publication of Darwin's theory of evolution that since the bible describes the creation of species as an instantaneous process, performed by God, rather than an evolutionary process resulting from natural selection, Darwin's theory is religiously unacceptable.

How compatible is Charles Darwin's theory of evolution with the biblical account of creation of human beings as found in the bible?

If you take the genesis tale metaphorically then you may be able to fit evolutionary theory in a Procrustean fashion to religious belief in the creation of man. Otherwise, genesis is not at all factual and explains nothing by trying to explain everything.
