Hmmm... yes... and no...
Like any other instruments, if the higher quality instrument you want, the higher the price. I play the French horn, and I have a Conn 8DRS. It is an advanced/professional model and it cost about $3500. My beginner model was a cheap student model from eBay and it was CHEAP! :)
I have a friend who plays the Trumpet (major in music) and he bought his trumpet (good quality) in the $2000-$3000 range. Of course, you can always buy higher models and pay even MORE for your instrument, but if you want a good French horn, go with Conn or Hans Hoyer French horns.
Hope this helps!
Every other brass instrument
A trombone has a slide, which other brass instruments lack.
Wind instruments which produce sound using lip vibrations are classified as brass. The french horn meets this specification. It produces sound in a fashion similar to other brass instruments such as the trumpet, trombone and tuba.
Brass wind instruments are musical devices made of brass or other metal, where sound is produced through vibration of the lips and adjustment of valves or slides. Some examples are the French horn and the trombone.
That depends on the music. Most often, it is played in a band, with other brass instruments, woodwind instruments, and percussion instruments. It is also played in the orchestra, with other brass instruments, woodwinds, and strings. It can be played in ensembles with other trumpets or brass instruments. Or, it can be played with piano accompaniment.
Standard Brass instrumentation includes: Trumpet/Cornet family French Horn family Trombone family Euphonium (Baritone) family Tuba family *family is used to denote the various brass instruments including Mellophone, Bass Trombone and other members.
There are quite a lot of brass instruments, the main ones which be used in orchestras are: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn and Tuba. But there's also: Cornet, Euphonium, Alto Horn, Bugle Horn and Baritone. Then there's unusual brass instruments like the Sudrophone and the Ophicleide. Brass instruments don't need to be made of brass, so there's also the Alphorn, the Serpent and the Didgeridoo etc. Most of these instruments can be got in different keys. For example, the Cornet is usually got in Bb. But you can get them in Eb (A Soprano Cornet) and C.
No, a saxophone has keys like other woodwind instruments. Brass instruments have valves.
It has a slide, rather than buttons.

Brass instruments tend to be made out of brass or other metals/alloys. Woodwind instruments have reeds, which makes a different sound to the brass instrument (in simple terms you have to blow raspberries into to make a sound- it is a little more complecated than that, but its hard to explain).
French Horn was one i know that... i think the other was either trumpet? or sax? or trombone... sry i'm not sure
