According to Judaism, God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4).

A Christian View:

Fully believing Deuteronomy 6:4, called the 'Shema,' most Christians believe God fulfilled the words of Isaiah 9:6 through the birth of Jesus. The bible verse most often quoted for this is John 3:16. Indeed, as Jesus came to reveal the Father whom no one has ever seen, Christians believe the God of the Old Testament was the Word who became the Son of God, Jesus.

Paul, writing to the Hebrews explains how the Christ fulfilled the sonship role. One may think of this as the name 'God' being like the surname 'Smith' having 2 family members today - one Smith Family but two Smith beings. Scripture indicates that the God Family will one day be billions of sons and daughters:

Hebrews 1:5New King James Version (NKJV) The Son Exalted Above Angels5 For to which of the angels did He ever say:

"You are My Son,

Today I have begotten You"?

And again:

"I will be to Him a Father,

And He shall be to Me a Son"?
