If I understand, there is a T either 3 or 4 inch with a screw plug on the side hole.
Remove the trap below it and clean it out - very simple.
A Vented Running trap with two clean outs or a P trap.
Remove the trap and clean it out. If it is all PVC and glue jointed, cut the pipe above and below the trap, clean it out and glue it back together with couplings.
Normally a Running trap and a clean out installed every change of direction greater then 45 deg and not over 50 feet

Disconnect and remove p-trap from under fixture. Clean out clog in p-trap and re-install.
