Yes, there will be a sequel. On July 21, 2010, Nickelodeon announced that it had given the go-ahead for the creation of a sequel, titled, "The Legend of Korra."
Nickelodeon said in a release that "The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang - a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra."

∙ 14y agoYes. In fact, in 2006 he said if the movie is successful he'll make 2 more movies. After the films recent success, James Cameron has confirmed that there will be a sequel, most likely continuing from the end of the first film and following Jake Sully and Neytiri. Sam Worthington has already signed on to play Jake Sully in a sequel. No development plans nor a title have been announced yet.

∙ 12y agoyes James Cameron has confirmed that he is and actually said he might also make an avatar 3 film he said it might be similar to the terminator series for more information on it go to James-camerons-avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Pandorapedia and go to films and scroll to bottom and it will say avatar film then avatar 2 then avatar 3.

∙ 6y agoDue to the critical & financial bomb that was the 2010 The Last Airbender, No there won't be a theatrical sequel but there was a sequel for the TV series.
The Legend of Korra [2012 to 2014] took place 70 years after the original series.
