That is actually a good question and a good answer. There aren't many jobs available right now, and in a rough economy art is usually the first thing to go.
A BFA is really a starting point for your career if you are able to get a BFA you might as well stick with it and get an MA (+2 years) or MFA (+4 years). I recently graduated with my BFA and found that it's mainly valuable for showing you have experience in the field. Other than that it doesn't qualify you for much, depending on the emphasis. Graphic Designers tend to be in higher demand. Basically a BFA gives you credibility for your own business. An MA is required for most student teaching, apprenticeships, TA positions, and gallery work. MFA allows you to teach up to a college level. Only have your BFA no worries as the years in practise of your discipline also adds to your degrees worth, but be sure and have the work to show for it if you go this rout. The credit is usually added for every 5 years up to 30.

∙ 10y agoBFA stands for Bachelor of Fine Arts. It is a degree for passing an education program in visual or performing arts. In some countries it is called The Bachelor of Creative Arts or Bachelor of Visual Arts.
