Maureen Dowd is still a columnist for The New York Times but has taken a temporary break from writing her column as she is focusing on writing a book.
The only thing I know is that she just wrote a big piece for Vanity Fair Magazine about Saturday Night Live actress, Tina Fay. ___________________________ Once a widely-read newspaper columnist. Dowd disappeared behind the New York Times "TimesSelect" subscription wall, and did not regain her former fame when TimesSelect died. And now that the New York Times is worth exactly the same price as their real estate holdings, it seems unlikely that she will get back into the headlines anytime soon.
I suggest that Matthew Dowd and Maureen Dowd are not related, at least as siblings. Maureen was born in 1952, the youngest of five children. Matthew was born in 1961 in Detroit. They could be cousins or related in some other way. The only publicly known connection is that they were both raised Catholic. I'd guess they aren't! They are not related. Matt is the third of 11 children. As far as relationship is concerned everyone is related to some extent.
Maureen Dowd on vacation is so much better than the alternative. I do wish she would put a little announcement in one of her columns leading to her vacation. I keep checking. Three weeks later ... no change.
