This service researches the records of the MIB for any underwriting that was submitted to any Life Insurance companies. They will search and compare the name and address of individuals that applied for Life Insurance. There records go back to 1995 only and if your grandmother applied earlier than that, this option will also not work. It only shows names that applied for life insurance and does not guarantee the individual had a Life Insurance policy. Upwards to 30% of Life Insurance policies go unclaimed because the beneficiary does not know the company name or does not even know that they are the beneficiary so they do not even look. By registering on this website you can elimnate the possibilities of you forgetting or missplacing information. They remind people annually with a post card that the company name of the Life Insurance company is stored on a secure database which can only be access by someone that knows the last four digits of a Social Security Number and the person Date of Birth. They only store company names and no SS numbers or policy numbers, so if you do not know the member the information that you receive is totally useless to you.
