My new hd lcd tv has no picture Is it broken or do I need to wait for direct tv to install?

Hi,
The new digital televisions are no longer `plug 'n play` where you just plug it in and tune to a channel and have it display a picture.
What it sounds like you need to do, is make sure it's connected to an antenna signal and then go into the user's menu and have it do a channel search, so that the computer system inside can find all the channels and store them in its database.
Give that a try first and remember, after you install your satellite system you may have to go through the process again unless you use the direct audio and video inputs (which is what I'd recommend) and that way, you'll be able to view satellite and on-air television signals by just selecting the option on your remote.
