My television has been turning on and off when i first turn it on and does this from 5-30 min then it finally stays on It does this when the tv has been off for more then 5 hours thanks?

If this is an older CRT type TV set then you are likely looking at cracked solder joints/traces either in the power supply area or under the flyback transformer where it is soldered to the PC board.
This type of crack will open up to a very poor connection when cold but when it swells up from the heat will make a good connection again.
Guess you could just leave it on all the time (that would be the cheapest fix)!
On the other hand, if this IS an older set maybe it's time to spring for a new one (with an ATSC tuner) that can pick up the digital signal that all US stations will be switching to in a few months anyway.
