There are many folk bands all over the UK, you can go to any outdoor festival and there will usually be one there. Frank Turner (who played in the Olympic stadium as an opening for the opening ceremony) is one of my personal folk acts, however there are many many more. Folk does not tend to enter into popular music, however. The movement is mostly underground.
