It is far more likely that the US and Iran will come to an understanding on ISIL and decide to allow Iran to fight them on Iraqi territory in order to buttress the current Iraqi government. ISIL is an off-shoot of al-Qaeda and a far more bloody and problematic group than the Iranians.
