A continuous or intermittent sharp pain on the lower left side in a female could indicate an ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the womb such as in the Fallopian tube), ovarian cyst and other things. Either way, if it is not gas, all sharp pains for females should be investigated by your physician. If you think you could be pregnant go to an ER NOW. If it ruptures you may bleed to death. Males and females can have lower left quadrant pain due to diverticulitis/perforation, obstruction, strangulation and other conditions.

In the right lower quadrant (RLQ)
It is possible to feel pain in the lower right quadrant (LRQ) during menstruation if it's related to uterine cramping. Ovarian cysts and/or inflammation can also cause LRQ pain. Appendicitis also causes LRQ pain. If you push on the spot that hurts and then let go, does it hurt more after you've let go? If you answer yes to that question you need to go to an urgent care center or emergency room to be evaluated for appendicitis.
Upper left
Most cases of acute right lower quadrant(RLQ) pain are considered appendicitis
You mean "pain in your appendix," but that's okay. In most people, the appendix is in the lower right portion of the abdomen, but this is not 100%... it can instead be on the left in some individuals, though this is rare.
