∙ 10y agoRAM is volatile storage. This is because it cannot hold information if an electric charge is not running through it, which makes it unstable. This is why they call it "volatile." As soon as the power in your computer is shut off, whatever was in the RAM will be lost. The hard drive would be an example of non-volatile memory, because it will hold information written to it even when the computer loses power.
