Like baking a cake once you heat it, it becomes a new substance. With a chemical change you can never go back to what you had before. Also like a car rusting, a match being lite, and burning wood ( the new substance for wood is ash)

endothermic, (so it absorbs heat instead of giving it off. Think of endo as inside of and exo outside because exothermic gives off heat making the two opposites:))

Exothermic reaction

What is true when two reactants combine in an exothermic reaction?

Exothermic Reactions: The delta h is always NEGATIVE! Energy is released (delta is the little triangle in front of the H)

In an exothermic reaction heat energy is released.

yes

What reaction releases energy?

exothermic reactions release energy, like a fire, which releases heat ( also endothermic reactions requires and takes/absorbs energy for its reaction like photosynthesis which requires sunlight)

What happens to energy in an endothermic reaction?

An endothermic reaction is a reaction which requires energy. The enegry is required for the reaction to take place, maning the energy is used up in the reaction. An example of an endothermic reaction is photosythesis.

What is endothermic and exothermic?

Exothermic refers to a reaction that produces heat. When you balance the equation the energy released when new bonds are formed is greater than the energy use when bonds are broken. An endothermic reaction takes in heat as it requires more energy to break its bonds than it has from the bonds it creates.
