Easy way to tell. Punch it if one tire spins it the 3.27 and if both spin it's the 3.55." That's not really true. The 3.27 was available in both posi and open diff. Nearly all P71 models have the posi unit, and a huge majority of them have the 3.27. Best way to test whether it's posi.... jack the rear end up and put the tranny in neutral. Spin one tire. If the opposite tire spins in the same direction, it's posi. If it spins in the opposite, it's open. 3.27 vs 3.55 would just be a matter of calculating engine RPM vs road speed.
