Nope!
Kindle (amazon) will let you download their e-books to your PC! FREE!
Go to Amazon.com, click on "Kindle my PC" and download their free software.
You can buy e-books (you'll need an account) for $0.00 or their regular price, right onto your PC, and read it from there... same navigability factors as a real Kindle.
Have fun and get smart!
You should get an iPad, it has iBooks and a kindle app on it so it defeats the kindle fire's purpose. Also, the Apple iPad has a much nicer interface and design.

You have to go to amazon.com and go to "manage account" it should be under there.

If it's a standard kindle, you should be able to reset the name by navigating to the 'settings' through the main menu and selecting the option for changing the device name. The kindle must be connected to the internet for this to work so that the online registration of the kindle updates at the same time.
Download the Amazon Kindle app from Google Play, then login with the account you used on your kindle fire. The books should be located in "Archived".
