Yes. They either need to learn it from the parents (the preferred way) or from their teachers (the realistic way). And I'm not talking about just a few things. By the time a child has a sexual encounter with someone else, he or she should know everything and all of the ramifications, so that they can make an informed decision and be able to either resist or have appropriate protection. This includes personal, legal, spiritual, emotional, financial, ethical, and medical aspects. Children need to make their own decisions, but they cannot do that with poor information and wild rumors and old-wives's tales heard from peers that may or may not have anything to do with reality.
