yes because at that age you are becoming an adult and going on your own to college youre old enough to understand and make a decision well thought out.

Also you can get a house a car and make your own choices and vote for yourself.

No, 18 has not always been the legal age to vote. It was included in Amendment 26 of the Constitution in 1971. It was 21 in the 14th Amendment, but that is also when women were not allowed to vote.
