I tell students that it is a good place to start but you better find a back-up source

A:

Although WikiAnswers is fortunate enough to have professionals that may supervise or simply contribute to the site along with individuals that may have acquired specific knowledge that enables them to accurately answer questions asked, it is open to anyone that wishes to participate. Therefor a wide array of people use and contribute to the site which allows for some mischief to exist such as changing the wording of answers of even making them misleading. Not too much is set in stone as the absolute final answer, thus making it the falable and jewel of a site that it is.

No. Although many of its answers or articles seem legit, personal input is present in many of them. Stay away from wikipedia when writing papers or answering questions. One of the worst things you can do is use wikipedia as a source for a research paper/term paper. Your grade will be greatly deducted from by doing so. I'd recommend finding a more reliable source, i.e. a government run sight.

Wikipedia is a good place to start - but remember that anyone can enter information on the site, so it might not be correct. Always do your research and be sure before you rely on that information.
