Only scientists and astronomers believed in the heliocentric theory, and some of them would be excommunicated or almost executed if they weren't geocentric.

I think that this theory is true only for some people. For Christian people, this theory are wrong, because they believe that people is God's creation.

People believed in different things during ancient times, much as they do now. Some people believed the scientists and philosophers of the day, while others believed in the gods and goddesses revered in their theology.
Charles Darwin rejected the Scriptures (Bible) and came up with evolution. Pierre-Louis Moreau believed that the Earth was flat. Maupertuis believed we got here by "lucky chance". These are some of the many that believe on evolution. (Hopefully you aren't one of them.)

He believed that animals are the same as plants, in that some plants are grown from a seed, whilst some are self-generated. Though now, that theory has been disproved because plants are not self-generated.
It depends of what you think of them , Some people like Nickelback more than Theory of dead man , and some people don't .
