If it is right at the top of the engine, this is just the rocker arm cover, and is not serious. This probably just needs a new seal. I would just start by tightening the bolts a bit (not over tightening. If you are Hercules, get your wife to do it, she probably won't be able to overdo it).
Rocker arm covers and oil pan leaks are both very common and both easily fixed. If, however, it is lower, then you may have more serious problems. Also, if you need to top it up with a quart of oil every few days, then this is a serious leak, but the fix is the same. Get the gasket from an autoparts store for 15 bucks or something.
Hope that helps. Good Luck.

Resetting an engine light on a 1996 Dodge Caravan SE is very easy to do. The battery can be disconnected for up to one minute to make the check engine light go off.

Legally, in North America, you can only use an engine for a vehicle that is as old or older than the engine. For example, you could put the 1996 engine into a 1994 Caravan (if possible) but not into a 1998 Caravan. The block, heads, and manifolds are the same from 1996 to 2000.
