Cyril is definitely not a German name! Saint Cyrill along with Methodius, are credited with having served as the ( apostles to the Slavs) and having invented the Cyrillic alphabet, used in the modern Russian language as an end to this task. They were most likely Greeks. Greek was the spiritual lingua Franca of the time, not yet Latinized. ( consider St.Paul). as many years ago ( Uncle Martin) in my favorite Martian pointed out- ( I can figure it out, Russian has some Greek Roots) there was some angle about a college Greek key leading to a Russian spy. Many a true word is spoken in Jest, in Greek the agency the spy served would be Kappa Gamma Beta, we call it the K.G.B. in Cyrillic, (on a Roman typewriter keyboard- well: KT6 would be close.

Probably no military women were involved on the Allied side of the Normandy Invasion itself on D-Day. Thousands of French women, men & children were caught up in the combat during D-Day, because they lived in the area. No information on if German military women were involved during D-Day at the scene of the invasion. Certainly American & British women, both military & civilian served on the Allied side in support of the invasion from England for example. The same would be true of German women supporting the German Army, Navy & Air Force in France during the invasion.
