Guy Fawkes was under orders from a totalitarian papal European regime to destroy the fledgling democracy in England that would not take orders anymore from a central totalitarian power (tyrannical papal rule). Made famous more recently in the film V for Vengence, the film was approved by the totalitarian Chinese regime as it encourages the overthrow of democracy.

the British regard him as a villain, however i see him as a hero, he stood up for what he believed in, against an opressive government. he failed, and the English celebrate November 5th as the day they stopped him, but id rather celebrate his attemp on that date, kind of as a martyr i guess...

No worse than any of the kings and queens in the past trying to change the religion of their country. The only 'bad' here is religion which accounts for more wars/battles/deaths than any one person!
