No, he was not. This is a durable myth, used by racists to try to justify segregation by saying it was Biblically ordained. That is false. Nowhere in the story of Ham in the Book of Genesis does it mention what color he was, nor was he cursed for his color-- he was cursed for disrespecting his father. Under patriarchy, such disrespect was considered a major sin. We may assume Ham was the same color and race (Semitic) as Noah's other sons. And again, Ham's color is never mentioned in the story, so there is no evidence he was black. This claim was added years later by people with an agenda, but there is no Biblical evidence to support it.

The black races are known to be the first modern humans and first appeared in Africa over two hundred thousand years ago - long before the time attributed to Ham in the Bible.
