Of course not. The colonies were once a part of the British Empire and the French and Indian War has a much more common name in Europe: the Seven Years War, which was perhaps the first true World War. Also, the Spanish-American War against Spain, the opening of Japan and China to Western traders, the War of 1812. The list I'm sure goes on even longer than that.
