Was the prophet Muhammed in the Koran a white male?

There are two aspects to this question.

1) Was Muhammad a male? -- Yes. It is very clear that Muhammad was a man.

2) Was Muhammad a White person? -- This depends on your definition of White.

Muhammad was a man of Mediterranean coloration. This coloration varies, but includes colors that might be mis-identified with a Southern German at their lightest and may be mis-indentified with Pakistani at their darkest. Nationalities with Mediterranean coloration include most Arabs, Egyptians, Southern Italians, Southern Spaniards, Turks, and other North Africans. Most of these groups are characterized as "White" by the United States Census Bureau, regardless of how others may see them.

Muhammad was born in Mecca, Saudia Arabia. Looking at his limited family history we can conclude he was Arabic. Unfortunately, that is about all we can conclude. The term "Arabic" includes a rainbow of skin colors and backgrounds. Regardless, there are many passages from the Qur'an that would lead one to believe Muhammad was of a lighter complexion than those around him.

He made his camel kneel down in the mosque, tied its foreleg and then said: "Who amongst you is Muhammad?" At that time the Prophet was sitting amongst us (his companions) leaning on his arm. We replied, "This white man reclining on his arm." He then then addressed him, "O Son of 'Abdul Muttalib." -Sahih Bukhari 1:3:63

I saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be open him) pronouncing taslim on his right and on his left till I saw the whiteness of his cheek

Again, this does not mean that Muhammad was white in a European sense. There is no doubt of his Middle Eastern heritage. But there is evidence to suggest he was perceived as having lighter skin by his own followers.

The question has been posed, perhaps, keeping in view the White complexion of the European origin. As described in the above answer, the holy Prophet (SAW) was not of European origin. Among the people around him he had lighter complexion and appeared to be the most beautiful, most handsome, most charming and most attractive. His inward piety, purity and beauty was also expressed through his body. Some of the Non-believers accepted Islam only by looking at the glowing face of the Holy Prophet (SAW), saying: "A person having such a graceful face cannot tell a lie." He was of middle stature, yet he appeared to be more prominent than others around him. May Allah Almighty enlighten our souls with the love of our beloved Prophet (SAW)! A'meen.
